Injuries are bound to happen during the season but Week 8 saw some major players go down. Let’s get into the Week 9 rankings and see how the injuries will impact the teams moving forward.
Last season saw a rash of injuries early on in the season as players adjusted to play after missing all of training camp and preseason. This season the players had the offseason work to prepare them for the grit and grind of the regular season but it still isn’t enough. Jameis Winston tore his ACL and is done for the season. Jack Conklin dislocated his elbow and is out for multiple weeks. Both Sam Darnold and T.Y. Hilton suffered concussions in their contests. However, the biggest injury of the week came to Derrick Henry who is going to miss a majority of the season with a foot injury that required surgery. Big changes to the rankings are ahead as teams struggle with these injuries.
Derrick Henry has made up for 79.3% of the teams rushing yards so far this season (937 rush yds). https://t.co/dmJ2NCNegZ pic.twitter.com/x4Pox14cBM

Miami Dolphins | 1-7 | 32 | 32 |
This team. No matter what they seem to do nothing works in their favor. I mean even with one more win than the Lions they still are the bottom team in our rankings. Last week the news picked up about a potential Deshaun Watson trade but no that has stalled, again. The Dolphins don’t look like they have any motivation to win outside of Tua Tagovailoa. Who knows what this team will look like after the trade deadline on Tuesday. – Jacob Mummert
Next Week: Houston Texans (1-7)

Detroit Lions | 0-8 | 31 | 30 |
After coming off a loss to the Rams where the Lions pulled out every trick in the book and looked to show some real heart, they decided to not even show up versus the Eagles. The defense got to run all over, the offense looked as dysfunctional as ever, and the heart of the young Lions team was just not there. A 44-6 defeat to a Philadelphia Eagles team with their own struggles this season will likely be a tough blow for the locker room of Detroit going forward, and Dan Campbell has a monumental task in front of him to avoid the NFL’s first 0-17 season. – Garrett Williams

Jacksonville Jaguars | 1-6 | 30 | 31 |
The Jaguars weren’t all bad on Sunday they did score a touchdown. However, the Seattle Seahawks scored one in every quarter. Jacksonville got 10 players involved in the passing game for Trevor Lawrence who threw for 238 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also threw the ball 54 times. They don’t catch a break facing the Bills this week. – Jacob Mummert
Next Week: Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Houston Texans | 1-7 | 29 | 28 |
The biggest news from the Texans’ loss is that the team will ride into Week 9 with Deshaun Watson still on the roster. It is likely that no trades will be made this season and we will continue to monitor the situation. As for the Texans on-field play, embarrassing as always. Maybe Tyrod Taylor will return next week and spark some inspirational football. – Justin Bauerle
Next Week: Miami Dolphins (1-7)
Houston Texans are prepared to keep Deshaun Watson past Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, even as many in the organization would like to deal him and turn the page, per league sources.https://t.co/aQLEqXjQY5

New York Giants | 2-5 | 28 | 27 |
The Giants have been plagued with injuries this season. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Kenny Golladay have all been injured at some point in the season. Even their defense has been missing pieces with Lorenzo Carter, Carter Coughlin, and Nate Ebner all out of Monday night’s contest. The Giants have to find playmakers in their depth if they want to win. – Jacob Mummert
Next Week: Las Vegas Raiders (5-2)
