As we near the halfway mark of the season teams are starting separate themselves. The balance of power leans heavily on coastal teams.
After a long three week hiatus for our experts (vacations, end of school, and life celebrations), our Power Rankings return. Two new teams jump into the top 10 while the city of New York continues its strangle hold on the top two spots. We’re just one week away from the halfway point in the season. As the calendar turns to July look for continued separation from the rest of the league from these teams.

Tampa Bay Rays | 40-32 | 10 | 9 |
The Tampa Bay Rays have scraped together a winning record, staying in the race for second in the AL East. Wander Franco is back from injury, a desperately needed injection of passion and hopefully production. Another date with the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox is right around the corner. The Rays are on the precipice of playoff contender or overachieving pretender. Those six games will likely decide the team’s fate.

Minnesota Twins | 41-33 | 9 | 8 |
The Minnesota Twins are far from a sexy team, but still have a clear lead in the AL Central. The team made some puzzling moves this offseason, but all the risky moves are hitting right now. Byron Buxton has been producing for the team – a big question mark entering the season. Currently, a weak AL Central certainly helps Minnesota, who achieve just enough to get it done. No more, no less. While there is still a lot of baseball left, the Twins are the odds-on favorite in the Central.
