Thanksgiving week marks a few things on the fantasy football calendar. It usually marks the trade deadline for every redraft league known to man and it also separates the known playoff teams vs. the non-playoff teams.

If you are in the non-playoff team category don’t be a loser and not set your lineup. That is very bad for your league and ruins your reputation as a fantasy player. Not every team can win the title and some teams are meant to play spoiler! So go out there this Thanksgiving and play spoiler to all of those stinking successful teams and let them know you’re not going down without a fight.

Week 12 Fantasy Starts of the Week

QB Matthew Stafford

vs Green Bay Packers

PPR Rank #7
245/362 PASS, 3,014 YDS, 24 TD, 8 INT

We all saw what super average Kirk Cousins was able to do against Green Bay last week right? Just throw it up to Justin Jefferson and he will catch it. Green Bay can’t cover anyone and it’s going to show against Los Angeles. We all know Cooper Kupp is the WR1 in Matthew Stafford’s heart and on the fantasy football statistics sheet and these guys look to get back on track after a bye week. The Rams have played like complete dog water since announcing they are all in with the Von Miller trade and Odell Beckham acquisition. I think a good ol fashion bye week can solve a lot of problems and Stafford gets back on track torching this lackluster defense. – Josh Kimmel

RB Tony Pollard

vs Las Vegas Raiders

PPR Rank #28
90 CAR, 495 YDS, 1 TD | 25/27 REC, 224 YDS

Zeke is hampered after reaggravating a knee injury last game, and the Cowboys are on a short week, which equals more touches for Tony Pollard. And without CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper, they could… and SHOULD… game plan Pollard into the passing game as well. Am I the only one that watches Cowboys games and wonders why they don’t feed Pollard the ball? The guy is electric.

Out of RB’s with at least 10 carries this season, Pollard comes in at 4th overall with 5.5 YPC. And last week against the Chiefs with Lamb and Cooper sidelined, we saw Pollard rack up 70 yards on only 9 touches (Zeke had 15 touches, but only 68 yards). The icing on the cake is that LV can’t stop the run, allowing the 3rd most rushing yards per game. If the Cowboys aren’t completely dumb (no promises), they will rest Zeke a bit and let Pollard shine. – Davey Lehigh

RB Miles Sanders

vs New York Giants

PPR Rank #48
79 CAR, 394 YDS | 19/25 REC, 118 YDS

Two running backs I really like this week are Miles Sanders and Ty Johnson for similar reasons and those reasons are they have been semi-useful when they play. It only took a Sanders injury for Philadelphia to figure out running the ball is a good thing for their offense. Sanders’ first game back he had a season-high 16 carries, but only 1 target. – Dave Campbell

RB Ty Johnson

vs Houston Texans

PPR Rank #38
42 CAR, 144 YDS, 1 TD | 25/38 REC, 271 YDS, 2 TD

Like I mentioned before, I really like Ty Johnson this week. Michael Carter is out with an ankle sprain so the next man up will be fantasy superstar Ty Johnson. Ty Johnson has been that sneaky running back that nobody has talked about, but they get Houston this week and I love taking the easy way out of everything so start your running backs against Houston. – Dave Campbell

RB Melvin Gordon

vs Los Angeles Chargers

PPR Rank #20
118 CAR, 522 YDS, 5 TD | 21/28 REC, 161 YDS, 2 TD

Did you think I meant to write Javonte Williams instead of Melvin Gordon because if you did then you’re just a wishful thinker? Melvin Gordon will not die in this offense and the coaches still believe in this guy. Gordon is still playing 50% of the snaps and averaging 3 targets a game. He is getting important red zone touches and producing the 23rd most fantasy points per game. Yes, we all want that flashy new toy in Javonte, but it’s not happening as long as Gordon still wears a Denver jersey. Did I mention this is also a revenge game for Gordon if that means anything to you? Start the veteran and expect a solid RB2 type day and keep waiting on Javonte… his time is coming. – Josh Kimmel

WR Michael Gallup

vs Las Vegas Raiders

PPR Rank #124
12/22 REC, 122 YDS

Wait. Both of my Week 12 Starts are Cowboys? Are my fellow Giants fans going to disown me? With Amari Cooper sidelined due to Covid, we saw Gallup rack up 10 total targets last week against the Chiefs. Unfortunately, he only caught 5 for 44, but give the man a break… he was a little rusty and the offense looked terrible.

This week the Cowboys face the Raiders on Turkey Day, and it looks like they will be without Amari Cooper and  CeeDee Lamb now too, who suffered a concussion in last week’s game and doesn’t look to be on track to return thanks to the short week. That leaves Mike Gallup as the WR1 for the Cowboys with little competition from Cedrick Wilson as the WR2. Gallup should put up WR2 numbers with room for upside. Stuff your face with turkey and let Gallup be the gravy on top. – Davey Lehigh
