Our Panel of Experts has assembled their votes to pick the Power Rankings. The San Francisco Giants remain atop, but there’s a newcomer in the Top 10!
The Reds continue to stay in the top 10 of the Power Rankings! Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Joey Votto is out-of-his-mind hot right now. He’s hit 9 homers in his last 7 games. The whole world knows he’s gunning for the bleachers, too.
“Oh, I’m trying to hit homers.”

After winning Friday night, they have a July record of 16-9 (.640 winning percentage). They’ve also been great in close games – decided by one run – this season, winning 62.1% of those games. That’s a good sign for a team pushing for a Wild Card berth. However, they currently sit 5.0 games out of the second Wild Card, so it’ll be an uphill battle for the Queen City squad.
You ever put a song on repeat for like three hours, but only half-listen to it? Yeah, that’s the A’s being perennial contenders year after year and hardly getting much love for it. At least, not outside of Oakland. They win everywhere, with a .556 W-L% at home and .560 on the road. Unfortunately, they are 4-9 versus the Astros and 4-6 against the Seattle Mariners. Sounds kinda like the Padres; having a successful season, but struggling to make a power move for the division. Sean Manaea is turning into an ace, leading four starters with 4.00+ K:BB ratios. The entire staff has only walked 281 batters, which is best in the AL.
